Over the past ten years Ryan has been engaged in research projects and community development processes focused on new forms of governance, regional collaboration, cooperatives, rural philanthropy, rural revitalization, and immigration and migration.\u00a0Ryan serves as a board member with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ccednet-rcdec.ca\/\">Canadian Community Economic Development Network<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.crrf.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation<\/a>. Ryan is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Geography at Memorial University and holds an appointment as a Research Affiliate with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www2.brandonu.ca\/organizations\/rdi\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rural Development Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Joshua Barrett<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/philanthropy.ruralresilience.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Joshua-Barrett-Pic.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-266  alignright\" title=\"Bio Pic\" src=\"http:\/\/philanthropy.ruralresilience.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Joshua-Barrett-Pic-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"170\" height=\"127\" srcset=\"https:\/\/philanthropy.ruralresilience.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Joshua-Barrett-Pic-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/philanthropy.ruralresilience.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Joshua-Barrett-Pic-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 170px) 100vw, 170px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Born and raised in Newfoundland, Josh has a strong interest in regional development within rural communities and how the two are interconnected. He completed his Bachelor of Arts at Memorial University in 2014, where he focused his studies in Geography and Political Science. Currently, he is completing his Master of Arts in Memorial\u2019s Geography department, where he is researching how resource dependent communities can engage in community development.<\/p>\n<div>\n<h2>Stephen Parmiter<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-212\" src=\"http:\/\/philanthropy.ruralresilience.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/SParmiterR-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"SParmiterR\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Stephen, from St. John\u2019s Newfoundland, is a third year Geography student at Memorial University completing a Bachelors of Science degree. His interests are primarily in physical geography and Geographic Information Sciences; however, he also holds a keen interest in rural and cultural studies. As he enjoys working in the field, Stephen plans to continue with graduate studies focusing on physical landscapes upon completion of his undergraduate degree.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Kelly Vodden<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"Kvodden\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mun.ca\/geog\/images\/content\/102-1997799225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"151\" height=\"154\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Vodden is an Associate Professor (Research) in the Environmental Policy Institute at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University. She also serves as a Research Associate and advisor to Municipalities of Newfoundland and Labrador and a board member with the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation. Kelly\u2019s research and publication relate to sustainable community and regional development, with a focus on rural, coastal, often natural resource-dependent communities.<\/p>\n<h2>Community Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-28\" title=\"logo\" src=\"http:\/\/philanthropy.ruralresilience.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/logo-300x89.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"89\" srcset=\"https:\/\/philanthropy.ruralresilience.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/logo-300x89.png 300w, https:\/\/philanthropy.ruralresilience.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/logo.png 504w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Community Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador (CFNL) is a unique registered charity. The foundation&#8217;s goal is to help people from all walks of life support the causes they feel are priorities in their communities and their province.
